1st Hole - "Whorley Burn" 407 yards Par 4
Sponsored by Headspoint Garden Centre
Drive must be kept on the fairway.
A well positioned bunker will catch drives up the right side and there is no future on the left either.
Not the easiest of holes.
2nd Hole - "Stey Brae" 351 yards Par 4
Sponsored by Robert D. Hogg (Construction) Ltd.
Uphill par 4. Keep the drive up the left side to miss the well
positioned right fairway bunker.
Take an extra club for your second shot.
3rd Hole - "Tintoc Tap" 298 yards Par 4
Sponsored by Chubb Electronics Security Ltd.
A birdie chance for all, but don't let your guard down as the green is well bunkered for the long drivers of the ball
and for approach shots alike.
4th Hole - "Mauldslie" 379 yards Par 4
Sponsored by Cloburn Quarry Ltd.
A good par 4. Hitting the fairway is key and a crisp iron shot is needed to hold the green.
5th Hole - "Quarry Hole" 198 yards Par 3
Sponsored by William Adam
Excellent par 3 well guarded by the front bunker. My advice? Take your 3 and run.
6th Hole - "Wellriggs" 424 yards Par 4
Sponsored by Sun Seekers Travel
A good strong par 4. If into the wind it can play long. Longer hitters must avoid the bunker up the left side. Par is never a bad score.
7th Hole - "Popinjay" 411 yards Par 4
Sponsored by Eclipse Contract Cleaning Ltd.
This downhil par 4 is generous with the
drive but the green is well protected with
trees and bunkers.
Don't be unhappy to walk away with par.
8th Hole - "Ha'Craig" 180 yards Par 3
Sponsored by Warma Floor, Reid & Smyth Ltd.
A well guarded par 3. Bunkers and trees await errant shots.
This is no pushover.
9th Hole - "Lang Whang" 482 yards Par 5
Sponsored by Volvo Truck and Bus (Scotland)Ltd.
The first par 5 on the course provides a real birdie chance but beware of the burn short of the green.
If in doubt lay up and try for your birdie the safe way.
10th Hole - "Posties Path" 364 yards Par 4
Sponsored by Brooks Shops
A good test to start the back nine. The best position is down the left with your tee shot as it opens up the green. But beware of the right placed bunker,
which is a no go. Take an extra club to take it out of play.
11th Hole - "Glenburn" 127 yards Par 3
Sponsored by Hazelhead Home Care
Carluke's signature hole, a beautiful downhill par3. But don't let the yardage
fool you. This has been a card wrecker
over the years.
You've been warned.
12th Hole - "Hill o Hope" 238 yards Par 4
Sponsored by David Callan Family Butcher
A positional shot from the tee leaves a short iron into the plateu green. Big hitters can go for it.
A very severe green that can have you scratching your head. Take your 2 putts and be happy.
13th Hole - "Fairaway" 284 yards Par 4
Sponsored by Duncan's Caravan and Camping
A good positional shot up the right side will open up the green.
Big hitters can have a go at the green but trouble right and left await the errant drive.
14th Hole - "Lawhill" 375 yards Par 4
Sponsored by Irvines Coaches
Excellent mid length par 4. The fairway is well bunkered for short and long hitters
but a straight drive will be rewarded.
Take care on the green which is pretty tricky.
15th Hole - "Whiteshaw" 540 yards Par 5
Sponsored by Royal Bank of Scotland
Open the shoulders and let it rip. A generous fairway gives the big hitters a chance to get up in two.
If not, be happy with your par 5.
16th Hole - "Dodgers Last" 168 yards Par 3
Sponsored by Taggarts Motor Group
A tough par 3, well bunkered and out of bounds to the right.
Aim for the middle of the green and
commit to the shot. A par is good score.
17th Hole - "Coltness" 374 yards Par 4
Sponsored by The Belhaven Brewery Co. Ltd.
The penultimate hole, one that intimidates when you have a score going. Out of bounds is tight on the right.
Pick a target and trust your swing Anyone will be happy with a par 4.
18th Hole - "Scoular Ha" 319 yards Par 4
Sponsored by Newkeylets
Nearly home. The safe way to play is a long iron or a fairway wood down to the corner, which leaves a straight forward approach. Have a pop at the green at your peril.
Play it safe and lunch and a pint will taste much better.
