Boys Section Newsletter No 1The first boys competition of the season will be the April Medal on Sunday 4 April 2010.As previously the boys competitions will be held mainly on Sundays commencing at 2pm.,however,occasionally boys competitions will be held on a Saturday so please remember and check your fixture list. It would be great to see all the boy members coming down on a Sunday to play in the competitions and enjoy the competitive side of the game without feeling nervous or anxious about it. Its' a well known fact that your game will not improve unless you play/practice regularly. So why not come along and meet some new friends. You will be playing with boys who are roughly the same standard as yourself which should help you to relax and enjoy your game. All you require to do to play in a Sunday competition is to arrive at the professionals' shop in plenty of time for the first tee off time at 2pm, enter your name in the draw, which will be made by the boys captain, David Donohoe and off you go. On completion of your round please remember to check your scorecard, ensure that both you and the marker have signed it and then place your card in the slot in the junior scorecard box in the locker room. In addition to the weekend fixtures, the summer eclectic competition will be held on Tuesday afternoons during the school summer holidays. Please watch this page for more information and results as the season progresses. If you don't have a handicap, don't worry about it. You can still play in competitions', however you should mark your card "for handicap" and place it in the scorecard box. When you have submitted three cards marked "for handicap" you will be allocated a handicap and your name will appear on the master handicap list which you will find pinned on the notice board in the locker room. Hopefully the number of boys gaining a handicap will continue to increase during this season. We will also be running six hole competitions for those boys who are aged 12 or under on some Sundays. The first of these will be held on Sunday 11 April, the second on Sunday 18 April and the third on Sunday 25 April. All you need to do to take part is be at the professionals shop in plenty of time for a 12 o' clock start. It's a great way to get started and meet other members. Handicaps will be applied for the six hole course and changed when you progress to the main course. If you need any advice or coaching on your game, don't be afraid to speak to our professional Craig or our assistant professional Scott, both will be delighted to help. Please remember that you will need to have a parental consent form completed before being able to participate in any coaching lesson. These forms are available from the professionals shop. Two very important factors in being a member of a golf club are Etiquette and Behaviour. I would suggest that all boy members should try at all times to remember the 5 R's. Respect the Staff Respect the Course Respect Other Golfers Respect the Club Respect the Rules. Let's hope that we all have a successful season. Enjoy your golf. |
